CD Projekt Red announced on 29 September 2026 that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is now available as a free upgrade for owners of the base game and its expansions. The update, released across GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2, adds a range of visual and gameplay improvements, including enhanced textures, Path Tracing on PC, PS5 Pro support and a reimagined skill tree.
Owners of the original Nintendo Switch version who purchase the game on the new Switch 2 receive the remaster as a free upgrade, while new buyers can purchase the title on the Nintendo eShop or Battle.net. The upgrade also includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, which are bundled even for players who only owned the base game.
Key changes highlighted by CD Projekt Red include improved combat animations, new finishers, an adaptive camera and overhauled animations for Geralt and Roach. Cross‑platform mod support has been added via Mod.io integration, allowing players to create and share custom content on consoles. The patch notes list further refinements to performance and visual fidelity, such as reworked lighting and foliage, and a new skill system that offers deeper flexibility.
The release follows a series of announcements from CD Projekt Red, including a preview of the upcoming 2027 expansion Songs of the Past. The remaster arrives on the same day as the launch of the game on Switch 2, as reported in Felo’s earlier coverage on 23 September 2026.
