Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) has released detailed renderings of its first international premium lounge, the Rayleigh Lounge, ahead of the airport’s inaugural commercial services. The 80‑seat mezzanine‑level facility, designed by COX Architecture, is scheduled to open in November and will initially serve Singapore Airlines passengers travelling through the new hub.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the lounge’s design reflects the colours of the surrounding Cumberland Plain and the Blue Mountains, with views across the airfield from its mezzanine position. Renderings show dedicated seating and dining areas, a bar, an open kitchen, three private shower suites and a range of spaces for solo travellers, families and groups.

Singapore Airlines’ regional vice‑president Foo Chai Woo is quoted as saying the airline is working closely with airport partners to deliver a seamless premium ground experience ahead of its inaugural flight. The airline’s flights to Singapore’s Changi Airport are slated to begin on 23 November, at which point the lounge – operated by air‑services provider dnata – will open to passengers.

WSI will begin domestic operations on 25 October with Jetstar, followed by Air New Zealand’s first international flight the next day. The airport is the first new full‑scale international airport in Australia in more than 50 years and operates a curfew‑free schedule, which officials say could increase competition with Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport.

Singapore Airlines, second only to Qantas in the number of international flights serving Australia, won the Skytrax 2026 World’s Best Airline award last month, underscoring the airline’s focus on premium services as the sector grows post‑COVID‑19.
