The United States and China have each published lists of non‑sensitive products worth about $30 billion that will receive tariff reductions, officials said on Thursday. The move follows President Donald Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House on September 24.

According to the Chinese commerce ministry, 1,619 U.S. goods entering China – including agricultural commodities, timber, medical equipment, coal and personal‑care items – will see cuts, while 77 Chinese export categories such as tableware, fireworks, soccer balls, glass, wooden Christmas ornaments and toys will also benefit. Over 90 % of the items will be aligned with “most‑favoured‑nation” WTO rates, which are typically in single digits.

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the lists focus on “nonsensitive goods on each side that could benefit from more favourable tariff treatment.” He added that the agreement could improve market access for U.S. farmers, manufacturers and workers, and lower prices for American consumers. Both sides indicated the lists may be adjusted annually, but no major sectors such as chips, electric vehicles or batteries are included.
