Ukraine says it has run out of Patriot interceptor missiles
Ukraine claims its Patriot air‑defence stock is exhausted amid intensified Russian attacks on energy sites.

Ukraine says it has completely exhausted its stock of interceptor missiles for US‑made Patriot air‑defence systems, leaving the country more exposed to Russian missile attacks, the Independent reported on Monday.
The shortage is reported as Russian strikes on Tuesday night and Wednesday hit three power plants in Kyiv and damaged infrastructure in Kharkiv, killing four people and injuring 25 in the capital. A source told the network that the lack of Patriot interceptors meant almost all ballistic missiles in the latest attack were not intercepted.
President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned for months that interceptor stocks were reaching critical levels, saying in August that Kyiv possessed barely a tenth of the munitions needed. The collapse in stocks follows a breakdown in relations between Kyiv and the White House, with the Trump administration reportedly striking a deal with Moscow to supply 4.8 million metric tons of Russian diesel, a move Zelensky condemned as a “betrayal”.
Washington responded by limiting Ukraine’s access to the Starlink satellite communications network and warning that continued refinery strikes could trigger a total freeze on US intelligence sharing. US officials also threatened to suspend European purchases of American arms through the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, which would block fresh Patriot interceptors for Kyiv and halt a licence that would have allowed domestic missile production.
