UK universities see rise in staff‑perpetrated antisemitic incidents, CST report shows
The CST says abusive behaviour dominates, but staff‑led incidents have grown, prompting calls for stronger university safeguards.

The Community Security Trust (CST) released a report showing that antisemitic incidents at UK universities rose to 83 in the 2024/25 academic year and 95 in 2025/26, a 14% increase from the previous year, according to Independent.
Abusive behaviour accounted for the majority of the 149 reported cases, while two incidents of extreme violence – one in Edinburgh and one in Leeds – were recorded for the first time. Staff were linked to 16 incidents across the two years, a point the charity highlighted as especially concerning.
Mark Gardner, chief executive of the CST, said the figures demonstrate that "Jews are still facing a very serious campus antisemitism problem" and warned that staff‑perpetrated actions make victims feel especially vulnerable.
The charity urged universities to prepare for the start of the new academic year, describing it as a predictable period of heightened risk, and called for clear distinctions between anti‑Israel speech and antisemitism, with disciplinary action where needed.
