UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Friday that two oil tankers were struck by "unidentified projectiles" in the Strait of Hormuz region.
The first incident caused a small fire and a temporary blackout onboard; the blaze was later extinguished and the vessel, which was exiting the strait, resumed its journey without reported casualties or environmental impact.
Hours later, a second crude tanker east of Oman reported being hit by an "unknown projectile". All crew members were safe and no environmental damage was noted. UKMTO said authorities are investigating both incidents.
These attacks come as the Hormuz passage, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil and LNG flow, remains a focal point of the ongoing regional conflict. Earlier this month, Felo News noted that crude exports via Hormuz had rebounded to near‑pre‑war levels.
