TV4 says human error, not AI, erased Swedish reality show season
TV4’s program director says a backup failure, not an AI agent, caused the loss of the edited second season of The Challenge Sverige.

Swedish broadcaster TV4 has denied that an artificial‑intelligence tool erased the edited second season of the reality series The Challenge Sverige, saying the loss resulted from human error and a failed backup, according to a statement reported by Mashable.
The incident was first reported by Aftonbladet, which cited sources claiming Mastiff, the production company, gave an AI agent access to its servers, allowing it to delete the files. The spokesperson for The Challenge confirmed the files were missing and that the premiere, originally set for 22 Nov 2026, would be pushed to 2027.
TV4’s program director Mia Lindqvist later told Aftonbladet that an investigation found no AI involvement; instead, a backup failure caused the deletion. She added that AI is widely used in production but was not responsible in this case.
