During a Dandiya night at MVSR Engineering College in Nadergul on Sunday, a heavy lighting truss collapsed onto the female students' side, killing one student and leaving several others in intensive care, Deccan Chronicle reported.
Second‑year student S. Ananya said she was recording a video at about 7:25 pm when the truss fell. She bent down to adjust her dress, escaped with a shoulder injury, and saw friends suffer spinal injuries. Another unnamed female student described scratches on necks and shoulders and said ambulances arrived while seniors and faculty drove injured students to Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet.
Male students reportedly helped lift the fallen rods as a crowd gathered, and a stampede caused additional injuries.
