President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he and a group of artificial‑intelligence company leaders have signed a voluntary accord for self‑policing of AI technology, during a White House lunch.
The agreement, whose details were not released, is said to involve internal and external reviews of AI systems. Trump told reporters outside the West Wing that he sees "tremendous self‑policing" and that the developers understand they must "self‑police."
Attendees included Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, OpenAI president Greg Brockman, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk of X, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, according to a seating chart posted by the president on Truth Social.
Trump also pledged that the U.S. government would not limit AI development, describing the technology as "bigger than the industrial revolution" and saying, "We can’t stifle it, and we’re leading by a lot."
