Travis Perkins reports 1.3% drop in quarterly like‑for‑like revenue
The Northampton‑based builders merchant cited macro‑economic uncertainty and a subdued new‑build residential market.

Travis Perkins, the UK‑based builders merchant, announced that its like‑for‑like revenue fell 1.3% in the three months to 30 September, according to its latest trading update.
What happened
The company said its like‑for‑like revenue for the year to the end of September also slipped 0.9%. It attributed the decline to a challenging construction backdrop, including high interest rates and cost inflation that are dampening new‑build residential projects.
What the reports add
Both the Independent and the Evening Standard reported the same figures for the quarterly and annual revenue declines and noted that the firm’s shares fell nearly 3% after the announcement before stabilising around a 1.5% loss later in the day.
What was said
Chief executive Gavin Slark told the press that the group is “prioritising more profitable trade and reducing credit risk in the current environment, to help protect profits despite the volume headwinds.”
How it came about
The update follows a period of broader sector pressure, with the construction industry facing “persisting” macro‑economic uncertainty, as highlighted in the company’s statement. Earlier this month, Felo News covered Tesco’s sales rise, noting that consumer uncertainty remains a theme across UK retailers.
