A Dallas mother, Kayla Price, says her purse was stolen from her 3‑year‑old son Devin’s wheelchair at the Texas State Fair on Tuesday around 8 p.m., taking nearly $2,000 worth of seizure‑preventing medication and $1,500 in cash.
What happened
Price briefly turned away from Devin, who has a terminal brain tumor and is in hospice care, to check on her older son. When she returned, the purse hanging from the wheelchair was gone.
What the reports add
The Independent notes that Price filed a police report with Dallas Police Department and that she had previously started a GoFundMe in July for Devin’s cancer expenses.
What was said
Price told Fox 4, "The potential of my son having a seizure and me not having that medication … it sucks," and pleaded for the return of the items. Chris Bailey, who runs the Facebook page Everybody Loves Everybody, said he would donate $2,000 to replace the medication.
How it came about
The theft occurred during a day Devin was described as having a good mood, prompting the family’s visit to the fair.
