Shudder picks up Ryan Glover’s horror film “Split Rock” ahead of Sitges debut
The 16mm‑shot feature will premiere at Sitges, then Brooklyn Horror Festival, before streaming on Shudder on Dec. 25.

Shudder announced it has acquired the supernatural horror film “Split Rock,” written and directed by Ryan Glover, according to Variety. The movie will have its world premiere at the 59th Sitges Film Festival on Friday and will later debut in North America at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival on Oct. 21. Shudder plans to stream the film on Dec. 25.
“Split Rock” stars Clark Backo, Drew Ray Tanner, Olivia Luccardi and Graham Verchere. The 16mm‑shot story follows geologists Lauren (Backo) and Ben (Tanner) who investigate an anomaly in remote badlands, uncovering an ancient force that triggers escalating horrors.
Glover said he is “very excited and thankful to be teaming up with Shudder again” and praised the platform’s genre audience. Emily Gotto, Shudder’s VP of global acquisitions, called the film “meticulously crafted” and said the company looks forward to sharing it with viewers.
Producers include Brian Robertson (Low End), Jefferson Moneo (Prowler Pictures) and Krista Dzialoszynski (Observer Effect); executive producers are Glover, Kate Melville, Fabiola Caraza, Patrick Hackett and Daniel Futa. Rights cover the United States, U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
