Australian comedian Simon Taylor has premiered a new sitcom called The Sonny Disposition on streaming service Stan, according to a profile in the Sydney Morning Herald.
The 38‑year‑old creator, who co‑wrote the series with Josh Samuels, describes the show as a satire of the “chaotic, ego‑driven world of podcasting”. He says the idea pre‑dated recent headline‑grabbing incidents involving media personalities.
Taylor notes that the series features cameo‑style references to Australian media figures such as Kyle Sandilands, Karl Stefanovic and even Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, saying the timing is “perfect”. He adds that his own background includes a stint as a writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and a historic appearance as the first Australian stand‑up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
In the interview, Taylor contrasts the ethical guidelines journalists must follow with the relative freedom podcasters enjoy, calling the medium a “Wild West”. He also shares personal quirks, such as drinking coffee after 9 pm and recurring nightmares about his wife ghosting him.
