Senate Majority PAC launches $1.2 million ad push for Democrat Scott Colom in Mississippi

The effort marks the PAC’s first foray into the Deep South as Democrats chase Senate seats.

By Felo News Desk · Published

Senate Majority PAC announced Tuesday a $1.2 million advertising campaign for Democrat prosecutor Scott Colom in the Mississippi Senate race, targeting voters through TV and digital spots through Election Day.

The 30‑second ad portrays Colom as a candidate who will "fight corruption in both parties" and labels Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde‑Smith as a "do‑nothing" incumbent. Lauren French, the PAC’s spokesperson, said the group has been watching the race closely and believes Colom is now competitive.

Senate Majority PAC, aligned with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, is expanding its focus to deep‑red states after President Donald Trump’s approval ratings fell. Mississippi, which Trump won by 23 points in 2024, is the PAC’s reddest target so far; a Democrat has not won a Senate seat there since 1982.
