Trainer Tom Charlton and co‑trainer John O’Shea are hoping Satono Glow will confirm her form in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday, positioning her for a possible run in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes on 31 October.

What happened

Satono Glow, a $NZ260,000 purchase at the 2025 Karaka Sale, won three of her four starts, most recently the Group 3 Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1,100 m) at Flemington on 12 September. She will line up from barrier nine in a field of 12 after the withdrawals of Hostwin King and Omolong on Thursday. The race offers a $2.90 TAB price for her, making her a short‑priced contender.

What the report adds

The SMH article notes that after a fourth‑place finish in the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes at Randwick, Charlton chose to keep the filly in Sydney rather than ship her to the Everest slot‑holder’s race. It also mentions that jockey Zac Lloyd will ride Satono Glow again, replacing Jamie Melham who rode her in the Flemington victories.

What was said

Charlton told the SMH, “There was a call about her, but we didn’t want to do that… we preferred her preparation be in Sydney before a potential tilt at the Coolmore.” He added after the Percy Sykes, “Unfortunately, it didn’t go our way, but we are happy with her anyway.”

How it came about

Satono Glow debuted with a win at Warwick Farm, followed by a three‑length defeat in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington, then a $5‑odd start in the Percy Sykes where she finished fourth despite a strong finish. Her recent Group 3 victory at Flemington has sparked interest from an Everest slot‑holder, but the connections have kept her on the Sydney circuit to build toward the Coolmore.
