A small 1968 Cessna 177A Cardinal nosedived onto Capitol Expressway near Excalibur Drive in San Jose on Saturday afternoon, according to the San Jose Fire Department.

The aircraft, registered to Flying Twenty Inc., a nonprofit flight club for San Jose State University students, alumni and faculty, was carrying two adults and a child. All three were transported to a hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries, police said.

The plane avoided striking any vehicles, but a minor fuel spill was contained and traffic on the Alum Rock Avenue offramp from Highway 680 was halted briefly. Crews cleared the wreckage after roughly three hours. The cause remains under investigation.
