Police in Liverpool have released CCTV footage that shows 68‑year‑old Rose Johnston socialising at The Watch Maker pub in Prescot on the afternoon of 2 October 2025, just two days before she was found dead with a head injury at her home on Ancroft Road, Dovecot, on 4 October 2025. The footage, published by the Daily Mail, shows Johnston helping herself to a coffee, moving through tables and leaving the venue at around 12:40 am on 3 October, after which she took a taxi back to her house where she was discovered the following day.

What happened

The body of Rose Johnston was discovered at 12:35 pm on 4 October 2025. She was found wearing the same all‑white clothes seen in the CCTV. Police say she died from a head injury. Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder and are currently on conditional police bail.

What the reports add

The Daily Mail notes that the CCTV was released to show Johnston’s “normal self, having a good time socialising with friends in the pub on that afternoon and evening.” The outlet also includes a family statement describing the pain of the first anniversary of her loss and the impact on their lives.

What was said

Johnston’s family said: “As the first anniversary of the loss of mum approaches, the pain we feel as a family is unbearable… The way in which she died was senseless and devastating and as a family we struggle to understand why anyone would want to hurt her.” The statement was reported by the Daily Mail.

How it came about

The release of the CCTV follows the police investigation into Johnston’s death, which began after her body was found on 4 October 2025. The family’s tribute, also published by the Daily Mail, recalls her upcoming 69th birthday in August and the plans she had for a caravan break with her sister.
