Rays confirm Shane McClanahan out of postseason roster

Kevin Cash announced the left‑hander will miss the ALCS after a season cut short by forearm tightness.

By Felo News Desk · Published

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Sunday that left‑hander Shane McClanahan will not be added to Tampa Bay's American League Championship Series roster.

McClanahan logged 118 innings in 2026, posting a 10‑7 record with a 3.36 ERA over 24 starts before landing on the injured list in early September with left forearm tightness. The pitcher missed the 2024 and 2025 seasons after Tommy John surgery and a subsequent nerve issue.

Cash praised McClanahan’s comeback, calling him "a healthy pitcher" and suggesting he could be a Comeback Player of the Year candidate. He added that the decision "made the most sense" to end the season, allowing McClanahan to focus on supporting teammates as the Rays host the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 of the ALCS.
