A Challenger 604 operated by Triton Aviation lost a door while climbing to 3,500 feet shortly after take‑off from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Oct 15, 2026. The crew declared a Mayday and were directed back to Abuja, where the jet touched down on Runway 22 without injuries to the six passengers and three crew members.

Air traffic controllers attempted to verify the door’s status visually, but the angle made confirmation difficult. The missing door was later found on farmland near the capital and secured by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) for analysis. NSIB director‑general Captain Alex Badeh Jr said an inquiry is underway, with no definitive cause yet identified.
