A 44‑year‑old Palestinian, Ali Hassan Yasser al‑Bazzari, was killed and 16 others wounded when Israeli settlers assaulted olive harvesters near Burqa, northwest of Nablus, on Wednesday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.

The wounded, including a woman, were taken to hospitals in Tulkarem and Nablus, reported the Wafa news agency. The Palestine Red Crescent Society treated five of the injured, two of whom suffered gunshot wounds, while three were beaten, Wafa added.

Wafa also said Israeli forces detained three paramedics and a volunteer after assaulting ambulance crews trying to reach the scene.

Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim noted that the attacks occurred during the olive‑harvest season, a period traditionally marked by communal activity, and that at least 45,000 olive trees have been destroyed across the occupied West Bank this year.
