The update, powered by GPT‑6, lets users request diagrams, calculators and seat‑map explorers directly in chat.

OpenAI unveiled an “Intelligent UI” for ChatGPT on Wednesday, adding visual and interactive components to answers. The feature, driven by the newly released GPT‑6 model, is available to paid subscribers immediately and will reach free users the following day.

In a hands‑on test, the author prompted the bot for a slug anatomy diagram, which produced a labeled illustration with clickable parts. A San Francisco apartment‑affordability calculator appeared with sliders for income and expenses, while a custom airplane‑seat explorer let the user compare cabin layouts across four airlines and highlight exit rows.

OpenAI says a design team determines when visual output adds value, and users can request fewer graphics. The approach mirrors Google’s earlier “generative UI” for Search, which also offers adjustable graphics for topics like black‑hole physics. Aarush Selvan, a product manager at OpenAI, explained the balance between helpful visuals and potential clutter.
