The Kremlin confirmed that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a temporary, localized ceasefire in the frontline town of Oleshky, following U.S. diplomatic mediation, according to Daily Times.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the arrangement is intended to enable immediate humanitarian assistance and civilian evacuations within the designated zone. Russian officials added that similar localized truces could be pursued in other sectors if both sides consent.
International observers described the deal as a crucial step toward easing severe humanitarian distress along active combat lines. Humanitarian agencies reported acute shortages of food, medicine and basic necessities in Oleshky due to prolonged fighting.
Under the ceasefire terms, joint engineering teams will carry out urgent road de‑mining to secure access routes, while relief organisations plan to dispatch heavy supply convoys. Ukrainian officials confirmed that initial emergency supplies were delivered by unmanned aerial platforms before land corridors were opened.
The parties agreed to resume structured trilateral negotiations in the coming weeks to address remaining operational details, but the Kremlin stressed that the truce imposes no broader restrictions on military operations outside the Oleshky sector.
