New Zealand Cricket announced that the Black Caps will wear a special limited‑edition "Kotahitanga" ODI jersey during the five‑match series against India that begins on 4 November in Auckland, according to New Indian Express.
The shirt incorporates three Indian motifs – the lotus flower, an ogee pattern from Indian architecture and a mandala – alongside traditional Maori scroll designs and kowhaiwhai painted lines, a collaboration between artists Ben Thomason, Shiv Narandas and Jai Pancha.
NZC chief marketing officer Glenn Critchley said the jersey balances Maori and Indian designs and will be a collector’s item for fans. Narandas, whose family is of Indian origin, called the project a meaningful journey and hoped supporters would wear it with pride.
