Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not feature in another One‑Day International for India until November 4, when the first ODI of the five‑match series against New Zealand is slated for Eden Park in Auckland, according to news18.com.
The West Indies home series concluded on October 3 with India losing the third match by five wickets in New Chandigarh. In that three‑match set‑up, Rohit posted scores of 32, 101 and 92, while Kohli made 139* (against West Indies), 29 and a golden‑duck.
Following the series, the Indian team will travel to New Zealand later in October. The overseas tour begins on October 22 with a five‑match T20I series in Christchurch, after which the two sides will contest five ODIs. The ODI schedule is as follows:
- Nov 4 – 1st ODI, Eden Park, Auckland, 07:30 IST
- Nov 7 – 2nd ODI, Sky Stadium, Wellington, 07:30 IST
- Nov 10 – 3rd ODI, Seddon Park, Hamilton, 07:30 IST
- Nov 13 – 4th ODI, Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, 07:30 IST
- Nov 15 – 5th ODI, Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, 07:30 IST
The BCCI’s senior men’s selection committee has not yet announced the squad for the New Zealand tour, but both senior batters are expected to be retained after their strong performances in the West Indies series.
Rohit Sharma, currently fourth in the ICC ODI batting rankings, has played 14 ODIs in New Zealand, scoring 437 runs in 13 innings, with four fifties but no century on New Zealand soil. Kohli, the world’s leading ODI run‑scorer, holds a career average of 49.66 and a strike‑rate of 91.41 in New Zealand.
