Speaker of Nepal’s House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal announced on Friday that he will travel to Tanzania on Sunday with a seven‑member delegation to attend the Inter‑Parliamentary Union’s 153rd General Assembly.
At the meeting, Aryal said Nepal will table an Emergency Resolution that highlights the country’s experience with climate‑induced disasters and calls for international climate‑justice support. He noted that Nepal is coordinating the effort with more than 50 countries through its Foreign Ministry.
"I will use the assembly to highlight the impacts of climate change internationally," Aryal told reporters, adding that Nepal, despite its negligible carbon emissions, has suffered severe losses from climate‑related events. He also referenced Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s climate appeal at the recent UN General Assembly and highlighted the parliament’s inclusivity, with over 37% of members under 40 and significant representation of marginalised groups.
