The Norwich City Football Club announced the death of Michael Wynn Jones, the 85‑year‑old husband of chef Delia Smith.

Norwich City Football Club said on its website that Michael Wynn Jones, the 85‑year‑old husband of celebrity chef Delia Smith, died peacefully at home on Monday morning.

Jones, who had been the club’s honorary life president and a joint majority shareholder with his wife until 2024, was remembered for his behind‑the‑scenes role in the club’s rise to the Premier League.

The club’s statement said, “He will be greatly missed… Our deepest condolences are with Delia and Tom, and with all of Michael’s family, friends and loved ones.” It also thanked the community nursing team at St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich for their care.

Jones, a former deputy editor of the Daily Mirror’s Mirror Magazine and The Spectator, co‑founded New Crane Publishing, which produced many of Delia Smith’s cookbooks. He married Smith in 1971 and was the son of a Church of England vicar and a teacher.
