Fans of Salman Khan’s war drama Maatrubhumi will have to wait longer, as the film remains in post‑production and has not been submitted to India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Gulf News reported on October 7.
What happened
The movie, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, was originally slated for an April 17 release ahead of Eid but was postponed. Subsequent speculation pointed to an Independence Day weekend in August and later to November, none of which were confirmed. A source told Gulf News that work on the final cut is still ongoing and that composer Ravi Basrur is scoring the film at Octavia Studios.
What the reports add
According to the source, changes requested by the Ministry of Defence are being incorporated, and the final version has not yet been locked. The film will only be sent to the CBFC once those changes are complete, contradicting earlier claims that it would be screened soon and could release before year‑end.
What was said
"Ravi Basrur (music composer) is currently working on the score at Octavia Studios, and the makers are yet to arrive at the final cut," the source said to Gulf News.
How it came about
Maatrubhumi, inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash that killed 20 Indian soldiers, sees Salman Khan portraying Colonel B Santosh Babu. The project was first announced as Battle of Galwan before being renamed in March. Recent Indian reports suggest parts of the film were reshot after defence ministry feedback, though the makers have not confirmed this.
