Londoners can expect a five‑day period of warm, dry weather, with daytime highs near 21‑22°C, before temperatures drop later in the week, according to the Met Office and BBC Weather.

The Met Office forecasts dry conditions on Thursday with sunny intervals, rising winds in the afternoon and easing by evening. It notes that the high‑pressure system will keep the southern UK dry, though nights may be chilly with occasional fog.

BBC Weather predicts light rain showers later in the day and a gentle breeze, while BBC Weather’s Chris Fawkes told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that the day will see “increasing spells of sunshine.” He added that Thursday night could bring patches of fog and mist, continuing into Friday morning, after which skies should clear for the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to stay around 22°C over the weekend, with similar highs on Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday, forecasts show a dip to 17°C, with a further fall on Thursday.

The Met Office says the forecast is warmer than usual for early October, continuing a trend from a warm September that was about 2.6°C above normal. Longer‑term outlooks suggest a wetter, colder winter, with potential influences from El Niño and a polar vortex later in the year.
