Lily Allen told The Times that the tradwife movement "appealed to me in the past… I don’t think it does now," after previously embracing its ideals. The 41‑year‑old pop star, who is riding a career resurgence with her 2025 comeback album West End Girl, discussed the shift in a new interview published on 20 October 2026.
Allen, who shares two children with her first husband Sam Cooper and was recently married to David Harbour, said she once focused on traditional homemaking roles – cooking, cleaning and overseeing homework – despite not having experienced such a childhood. She linked those past attitudes to the tradwife trend, a social‑media‑driven movement that promotes full‑time homemaking and submissive gender roles.
In the album, Allen narrates a fictionalised marriage that mirrors aspects of her own life, describing a New York townhouse, a gaslighting husband, and a discovery of infidelity. One of the most discussed tracks, “Pussy Palace,” references a stash of sex toys her husband allegedly uses with other women.
Allen also revealed that she previously prioritised her partners’ sexual pleasure over her own, saying, "I grew up feeling that I was a vehicle for male pleasure… My priority has been to make sure I don’t get rejected or abandoned." She added that many women, in her view, act similarly to avoid being labelled a "spinster."
Alongside the interview, Allen announced a new partnership with adult‑toy retailer Lovehoney, launching a range that includes a polka‑dot butt plug featured on her album artwork. This follows her earlier sex‑toy collection launch on 19 October 2026.
