Veteran Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu became emotional on the set of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2026, recalling his long‑standing musical partnership with Alka Yagnik and wishing her a speedy recovery after news of her health issues.
The episode, which also marks Sanu’s 69th birthday, featured contestant Geetashree’s performance that triggered memories of the romantic duets the two singers recorded together. Sanu sang a few lines of one of their songs and said, “Alka ji is not keeping well, and that makes me very emotional. Some of the most romantic songs of my career have been with Alka ji, and her brilliance as a singer needs no introduction.” He added that he hopes to hear her “magical voice” again soon.
Alka Yagnik, who has sung more than 500 duets with Sanu, disclosed a rare sensorineural hearing loss two years ago after losing her hearing on a flight. In a social‑media post she wrote that doctors attributed the condition to a viral attack and warned of the risks of loud sound exposure. Despite the setback, she received the Padma Bhushan in June from President Droupadi Murmu.
Sanu’s tribute included a brief statement: “I sincerely hope she recovers soon and returns to join us in front of all of you once again.” He emphasized that the performance was meant to honor her and to keep hope alive for her fans.
The emotional moment will be part of the upcoming birthday special on the reality show, highlighting the duo’s impact on Hindi cinema’s romantic music legacy.
