Wladimir Klitschko seeks temporary guardianship of late ex‑partner’s estate

Klitschko asked a Los Angeles court to protect his 11‑year‑old daughter’s assets after Panettiere’s death.

Former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko filed an urgent petition in Los Angeles County court to be appointed temporary representative of his 11‑year‑old daughter Kaya’s estate, according to the filing reported by the Independent.

The petition, submitted on Thursday, argues that without a court‑appointed guardian, property belonging to Hayden Panettiere’s estate could be lost, damaged or dissipated. It cites a federal investigation that seized Panettiere’s belongings and notes prior unauthorized access to the family’s Los Angeles residence.

Klitschko, who has had full custody of Kaya since she was two, seeks a short‑term appointment until a permanent administrator can be named. A hearing on the request is scheduled for 8 October.

Panettiere, the actress known for “Heroes” and “Nashville,” died on 16 August at age 36 in Greenville, South Carolina. A coroner’s report obtained by the Associated Press ruled the death an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and other drugs. The filing also references her memoir, which disclosed struggles with addiction and postpartum depression after Kaya’s birth in 2014.
