Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced that a temporary gas shutdown will begin at 10 pm on Saturday and run until 9 am on Sunday to carry out repairs on its 24‑inch Sher Shah mainline in Karachi, according to dailytimes.com.pk.
The outage could affect Baldia Town, Ittehad Town, Saeedabad, Naval Colony, Musharraf Colony, Mawach Goth, parts of Orangi Town (including Gulshan‑e‑Bahar, Gulshan‑e‑Zia, Sector 16 and Ghaziabad), Altaf Nagar, Mehran City, Ramzan Goth and the SITE Industrial Area. SSGC warned that any extension beyond the scheduled hours might reduce gas pressure in these neighbourhoods.
Separately, Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik directed the SSGC board to devise a strategy to improve financial performance, focusing on reducing unaccounted‑for‑gas and establishing a sustainable business model.
