Everton’s Jordan Pickford, 32, was omitted from England’s opening Nations League matches against Spain and Czechia as manager Thomas Tuchel gave 23‑year‑old James Trafford a chance. Pickford will return for the Croatia and Czechia fixtures, but says his best years are still ahead.

“I’m 32 now, you see keepers playing still at 40, still playing at the highest level. It’s about me focusing on myself; I set myself my own goals,” Pickford told the Independent. He added, “I’ll never stop until I stop. I’m not slowing down, I think I’m only getting better.”

Pickford also praised his role as a teammate, noting the bench‑warming experience helped him see “where I’m at” and support Trafford’s development.
