Joe Pyfer, a rising UFC contender, condemned Nassourdine Imavov’s recent confrontation with two‑time middleweight champion Sean Strickland at the UFC Performance Institute, describing the behavior as "ridiculous antics" that do not advance the division.
Imavov, who is positioned as the next challenger after his unanimous‑decision win over Caio Borralho, pulled up on Strickland earlier this month, prompting a viral exchange. Strickland, who has not yet signed a contract for a rematch pending pay demands, responded on X, calling the stunt "cringe" and suggesting it was staged for content.
In an interview with Tim Welch, Pyfer said Imavov’s actions were a marketing ploy and noted that Strickland has already beaten Imavov at UFC Vegas 67 in January 2023. The exchange has intensified speculation about a potential title bout.
