Jack Antonoff, 42, told the Guardian that he will continue performing songs he wrote about his now‑estranged wife Margaret Qualley, 32, while touring with his band Bleachers.

What happened

Antonoff and Qualley, who married in August 2023 after a 2022 engagement, separated over the summer after five years together. During his current Bleachers shows, Antonoff still includes tracks such as “Dirty Wedding Dress” and “You and Forever.”

What was said

In the interview, Antonoff said, “Songs which I wrote recently, I obviously was really worried about this specific thing, I sat long and hard with it and thought: ‘If I change the setlist …’ and in my gut there was a unanimous jury that said, ‘No, this is the deal.’” He added, “The deal I’ve made with my audience is that I’m going to tell you honestly how I feel and I’m going to risk at any moment having to stand behind it for f***ing ever.” He also noted, “Anyone could relate to the terrible sadness and pain, but there’s a great power to it also. It’s actually been really beautiful.”

How it came about

Antonoff met Qualley at a rooftop party in 2021, got engaged the next year, and their high‑profile wedding featured guests such as Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen. Qualley appeared in three Bleachers videos, and their relationship inspired moments like Lana Del Rey’s song “Margaret.”
