Instinct, the AI‑driven personal assistant platform, is reportedly seeing more than half of its transactions linked to travel, founder Noah Shinn said on a recent podcast interview with investor Patrick O’Shaughnessy. Shinn also revealed that the invite‑only service is approaching a billion dollars in annual transaction volume, though he did not disclose how that figure was calculated.

Travel dominates Instinct’s activity

Shinn explained that users can ask Instinct to book flights, hotels or other travel services on the fly, offering a unified interface that pulls data from multiple airlines and hotel chains. “People who are not on Instinct use travel agencies or sites to book hotels or flights,” he said, adding that the platform’s experience could be more convenient for urgent travel needs.

Rapid growth and future plans

According to Shinn, Instinct’s transaction volume is increasing by about 10% day‑to‑day, a rate that mirrors the platform’s user growth. He also highlighted the company’s ambition to transform restaurant reservations, claiming that an AI agent could scan restaurant booking sites every five seconds to find available slots for special occasions.

Funding and competition

Instinct recently raised $1 billion in Series C funding, valuing the company at $10 billion. The round was led by Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital and Coatue. The 14‑member startup competes with Meta’s Muse and Khosla‑backed Wajo in the personal agent space.
