The New York Giants are reportedly exploring options for a running back and a defensive tackle before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

What happened

Schultz’s report follows the Indianapolis Colts’ recent trades of guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to San Francisco, moves that have sparked speculation about the fate of other Colts players, including star running back Jonathan Taylor.

What the reports add

Schultz noted that the Giants have been in contact with teams that have already started making trades. ESPN’s Jordan Raanan previously suggested Taylor’s asking price could be a second‑round pick or more. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that wide receiver Josh Downs also requested a trade from the Colts.

What was said

Giants general manager Joe Schoen told reporters that early talks have given him a clear sense of who might be available and emphasized the need for moves that make sense both short‑term and long‑term.

How it came about

The Giants released running back Najee Harris after a week of limited touches, and head coach Shane Steichen has been evaluating the rushing attack following quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s first start. The team hopes to bolster its run game to stay competitive in the weak NFC East and compensate for the loss of kicker Jaxson Dart.
