Ferrari may ease out Vasseur

Reports say Ferrari’s chairman and CEO are preparing a succession plan that could see Vasseur step aside after the season.

Scuderia Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, may be moved to a less demanding role or leave the team entirely, according to reports from PlanetF1 cited by Sportskeeda. The 58‑year‑old Frenchman is said to be the focus of a succession plan developed by chairman John Elkann and CEO Benedetto Vigna, which would take effect after the current season. Vasseur has expressed frustration about the uncertainty surrounding his future, saying that any decision is not in his hands. The move follows criticism of the team’s performance at the Italian Grand Prix and speculation about Vasseur’s position after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where he was asked about his future. Christian Horner, former Red Bull Racing boss, has also expressed interest in joining Ferrari, adding to the speculation. Vasseur replied to Horner’s comments in Baku, calling him “looking for a job”. The plan would aim to create an “amicable situation” for Vasseur, allowing him to step aside from running the F1 outfit.
