Fatboy Slim says he has never been paid to play at Glastonbury
The legendary DJ has played the festival more than a century of times but claims he has never been paid for his performances, while organisers have donated millions to charity.

Fatboy Slim, the stage name of Norman Cook, told the Independent that he has performed at Glastonbury Festival more than 100 times and has never received payment for those appearances. Cook, 63, said that he has never paid to attend the event either, noting that organisers Emily and Michael Eavis give him free tickets and allow him to perform in small, quiet venues on the festival grounds.
Cook described Glastonbury as “the most fun, forward‑thinking, beautiful human experience of alternative culture” and said that his friendship with the Eavis family has not been tarnished by money. He added that he has played at the festival both officially and as a sightseer, sometimes even when he was not on the official bill.
The DJ’s comments come as organisers announced that the 2027 festival will begin selling tickets this week, after a traditional fallow year in 2026. Headliners have not yet been revealed, but organiser Emily Eavis confirmed that they have been booked, while ruling out rumours of Madonna and Oasis.
In 2023, Glastonbury organisers revealed that the festival had donated a record‑breaking £3.7 million to charities such as Oxfam, Greenpeace and WaterAid. Cook said that the organisers are not in it to make a profit, and that any money made is given to charity.
