The trial begins on Tuesday for month‑to‑month Select customers and will revert after seven days, MultiChoice said.

MultiChoice announced that, starting Tuesday, Select subscribers who pay month‑to‑month in full and on time will automatically receive a free seven‑day trial of DStv’s new Sports package at the start of their subscription period, the company said.

The offer requires no sign‑up; after the week ends, customers revert to the Select tier. MultiChoice described the test as a way to entice upgrades and boost average revenue per user.

Sports, launched as part of the biggest package overhaul in 15 years on 17 September, includes 17 channels with Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Betway Premiership, international cricket, UFC, WWE and local rugby. Select already carries Betway Premiership matches, so the free week adds broader international football, cricket and combat sport.

Willington Ngwepe, CEO of MultiChoice, said, “We told South Africans to expect more, and we meant it,” in a statement on Tuesday.
