EU opens applications for free DiscoverEU travel pass for 18‑year‑olds

The European Commission announced that 18‑year‑old residents of EU and Erasmus+ countries can apply for a free DiscoverEU travel pass. Applications are open until 15 October 2026 at midday Brussels time, according to the Commission’s website.
Selected applicants will receive a pass valid for up to seven days of travel within a one‑month window, usable any time between 1 March 2027 and 31 May 2028. The pass covers environmentally friendly transport such as trains and, in specific cases, other modes.
In addition to the travel pass, recipients will get a DiscoverEU discount card offering reductions on accommodation, cultural activities, sports, local transport and other services. The scheme also provides assistance for applicants with disabilities or health challenges.
DiscoverEU is part of the Erasmus+ programme and aims to promote youth mobility, cultural exchange and sustainable travel across Europe.
