Firefighters battled the Danny fire, a brush blaze that ignited Thursday near the Grapevine in Gorman, California, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The department reported a 10‑acre fire at about 5 p.m., issuing an evacuation order for an area bounded by Old Ridge Road and Interstate 5 near Bald Mountain by 5:45 p.m. By 6:45 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire had burned roughly 140 acres and was 7% contained.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Christian Stevens said the 5 Freeway was closed in both directions from about 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. because smoke reduced visibility, with some lanes reopening after the closure.

Evacuation warnings also covered the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
