A masked gang broke into a home in the Smith’s Wood area of Solihull, West Midlands, on Saturday 13 December, forcing the couple to transfer hundreds of thousands of pounds in cryptocurrency and threatening the pregnant wife’s baby, Independent reported.
What happened
At about 5:20 pm the attackers arrived in a car, exited, and forced their way into the house. Over a 45‑minute ordeal three men beat the male victim while a fourth communicated via a video call, demanding the transfer of crypto assets. The assailants also stole several Rolex watches and threatened the wife with a knife, saying they would stab her stomach and kill the baby.

The Independent notes that Crimestoppers released CCTV showing the attackers leaving in a black BMW X3 and described one offender as a black man with a small diagonal scar beneath his left eyebrow. The charity is offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to arrests.

Alan Edwards, West Midlands regional manager of Crimestoppers, said: “This was a young family, at home, weeks away from welcoming a new baby.” The victim told the BBC that he had quit his job in 2023 to trade crypto full‑time and warned that “people need to understand these risks are real.”
