Ghana Football Association and head coach Carlos Queiroz have mutually terminated their contract, Independent reports, after the Black Stars suffered 0‑2 and 4‑2 defeats to Ivory Coast and Gambia in the first two fixtures of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Queiroz, 73, was appointed two months before the 2026 World Cup, succeeding Otto Addo. He guided Ghana to a goalless draw with England at the World Cup and a round‑of‑32 exit to Colombia before stepping down, then returning in September. The recent qualifying setbacks left Ghana bottom of Group C with zero points.
In a statement, Queiroz said the decision was “not an easy decision” but that both parties agreed it was in the best interest of Ghana, the Black Stars and Ghanaian football. He thanked the Ghana Football Association, its president, his technical staff and the players, emphasizing his respect and pride for the nation.
