The BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest outside the Congress headquarters in New Delhi on Monday, demanding the expulsion of Manipur Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam. The demonstration, organised under the ‘Nari Shakti Hunkar Andolan’ banner, was joined by women MPs including Bansuri Swaraj and Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi.

According to New Indian Express, the party accused Congress leaders of protecting Akoijam despite allegations from 11 female JNU students. Devi questioned Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s commitment to women’s rights, asking, “What happened to your slogan? Has it become an empty slogan?”

The protest follows a FIR lodged by the university’s chief security officer, charging Akoijam with sexual harassment and insulting a woman’s modesty.
