Blumhouse announced a film adaptation of the indie puzzle‑horror video‑game series “Amanda the Adventurer,” revealed during a Blumfest panel at New York Comic Con on Friday.
What happened
The project will be spearheaded by Matthew “MatPat” Patrick, former host of the Theory YouTube channels, and producer Jason Blum. Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald will also co‑produce. The panel disclosed that the studio is in early talks with writers and directors, but no specific talent has been attached yet.
What the reports add
Variety noted that MatPat moderated the panel and that Blumhouse’s multi‑project deal with him begins with this movie. The article also highlighted MatPat’s broader entertainment résumé, including voice work on a Transformers web series, co‑producing the Tony‑nominated play “Grey House,” and involvement in the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” film franchise.
What was said
During the panel, MatPat and Blum said they are excited to bring the unsettling VHS‑tape premise of the game to the screen, though no direct quotes were provided in the report.
How it came about
The adaptation follows a trend of game‑to‑film projects, such as recent announcements covered by Felo News on Xbox’s new XP division and Sam Raimi’s upcoming Roblox‑based horror film.
