A survey by Angus Reid and Nextdoor Canada conducted Oct. 5‑7, 2026 of 1,515 adult Canadians shows Albertans are budgeting modestly for Halloween. Over half (51%) expect to spend $0‑$49, compared with 65% nationally in the same range. Thirteen percent plan $50‑$69, while 18% aim to spend $100‑$149 – the highest share among provinces. Seventeen percent say they will not spend anything at all.

Respondents cited low awareness of events and item costs as barriers. Twenty‑seven percent said better awareness would increase attendance at local events, and 25% said free or low‑cost community events would encourage them to go local. Twenty‑two percent said lower prices or deals would have the same effect.
