New Delhi, Oct 18 (PTI) – The All India Tennis Association (AITA) announced a free, week‑long coaching course exclusively for women, scheduled for Oct 24‑30 at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) Tennis Stadium. The programme, supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the DLTA, received 48 entries, including nominations from state associations.
Eligibility is limited to AITA‑registered women coaches holding Level‑I certification or higher, as well as fresh candidates with a valid AITA registration. Although 48 coaches applied, the course will admit a maximum of 36 participants on a first‑come, first‑serve basis.
Coach Ashutosh Singh, one of the tutors, said the initiative is a "positive move towards creating a structured and sustainable pathway for women to enter and progress in coaching" and called the response "particularly encouraging." He added that the long‑term goal is to increase participation and create leadership opportunities for women at grassroots, junior and competitive levels. Other tutors include AITA experts Kawaljeet Singh and Radhika Kanitkar.
