The American Film Market (AFM) announced that its 47th edition, running Nov. 10‑15 in Los Angeles, will include an inaugural Global Screen Economy Summit on Nov. 10, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
What happened
The half‑day forum will open with a keynote by Jackie Brenneman, the new president and CEO of the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), which runs AFM. A second keynote will be delivered by industry analyst Evan Shapiro, who will discuss the rapid changes driven by consolidation, artificial intelligence and the creator economy. The expanded conference program will feature more than 45 sessions, including informal conversations with Amy Baer of Artists Equity and Stuart Ford of AGC Studios.
What the reports add
The report notes that AFM, reborn last year in Century City, will refocus on how content is financed, produced and consumed across “big and small” screens. Panels will address a proposed federal production incentive, the “New Studio System” with executives from Angel Studios, Popular Demand Studios and Wesley Wang Media, and new film‑financing strategies featuring Cold Iron Pictures, Wrapbook, Ashland Hill Media Finance and Legion M. Additional sessions will examine a “new IP value chain,” audience‑building rules, a resurgent horror market, alternative cinema content such as anime and concerts, and the role of artificial intelligence.
What was said
In a statement to the outlet, Brenneman said, “From how stories are discovered and what gets made to how content reaches audiences … nearly every part of our business is being reimagined.”
