Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told European leaders at an EU summit in Brussels that U.S. President Donald Trump’s diesel deal with Russia would channel money straight into Vladimir Putin’s pocket, describing Moscow’s peace overtures as a “parody.”
Zelensky praised European counterparts as “real leaders” after Trump called Ukraine’s recent strikes on Russian oil refineries a “disgrace.” He urged the EU to provide at least €70 billion in additional financial and military aid to cover an estimated €155 billion war cost for the coming year.
The president also raised concerns about disruptions to SpaceX’s Starshield satellite network, saying service had improved but was not yet fully restored.
